22 overs and no proctologist

Ricky Ponting decided this test was going to be a draw.

First was his starting the day with his worst two bowlers.

MacGill was keeping them full, oh so full.

Johnson was getting the most benign looking reverse swing ever.

Ponting upgraded from this attack to Clarke and Roy even though the new nut was available.

I am sure there was some reasoning involved.

Perhaps tactics were discussed at team meetings, or someone lost a bet, but there they were, Clarke and Roy just popping the ball down to two of the Windies best three batsman.

Luckily all this didn’t last long, just a quick 22 overs.

Then Lee was brought back on and he was making the ball reverse swing so much Johnson felt inadequate as a lover.

I want to bag Ponting more, but at least he tried 5 bowlers the keira knightly pitch.

But, Lee took 2 dodgy wickets in 2 balls in his second over of the day, which suggests the 22 over wait was a tad long.

And the proctologist Rupert Clark hadn’t even seen the crease at that stage.

Lee followed it up with a 3rd dodgy wicket.

Tiffen clearly decided that anything that hit the batsman was LBW or caught.

This made it much easier for Australia.

Which was nice.

Even with all these wickets Clark was not brought back on.

Johnson was, because any chance to get Johnson cheap wickets is taken by Ponting.

Clark is like the black running back from Varsity Blues, he does all the grunt work, and then Johnson, the white wide receiver, gets the touch down.

Basically I am saying Ponting is racially prejudiced against Clark.

Windies all out, but unless the pitch falls apart, draw still looks likely.
