VVS like Lord Nelson

India has a team of middle aged men.

And these men are falling apart.

Which is why India's "premiership clock" is at 1am.

Sachin batting behind Patel because of the elbow complaint.

And VVS dragging along his gimpy leg were just new examples that this grey old mare she aint what she used to be.

Everyone who saw the IPL knows there is a bunch of young pups ready to come through and take the world by the balls.

Problem is no one is ready to get rid of any of the old guard.

Even when the old guard get gone, someone drags them back, dusts them off and nothing much changes.

There is a reason for this, and it is more than the obvious love affair for the old guard.

Serious test players perform even when they are past there best.

Look at VVS this morning.

On one leg.

Batting with the tail.

The game all but lost.

And the surgeon still makes a half century and gives his team a total to bowl at.

Not much of a total.

But something.

And that is why conservative selectors, and most are, wont get rid of these chaps.

The only problem now is the money India have to spend of Physios, aged carers, and little blue pills.www.cricketwithballs.com

Now with new proper english lady blogger.
