It's their fault, not mine

I did my job.

I selected the team.

I picked the old proven players.

They didn't perform.

I cannot be blamed for that.

This was Andrew Hildtich, ofcourse i am paraphrasing, but he did say this.

"And the reality is in the Test series against South Africa and India, we didn't get great input from two or three of our senior players.Brett Lee didn't have a good series, for all sorts of reasons, either in India or South Africa, and that's your premier strike bowler. Obviously Matthew's had a bit of a disappointing run, and Michael Hussey, you could never predict that he wouldn't have a significant impact against South Africa. So they're the key areas which led to South Africa winning."

He is right in saying these 3 players cost Australia, what he didn't say was what he did wrong.

He didn't put any pressure on Hayden or Hussey, even though both have been out of form for a year.

And he kept picking Lee even though his head was not right.

Why wasn't David Hussey or Hughes/Rogers/Klinger added to the squad for the 1st test.

The constant ass licking had not got Hayden and Hussey back into form, so pick their replacement in the squad as a reminder, perform or perish.

If Hayden was dropped that would have been a message to all the old guard, we are no longer good enough to carry out of form old players, sorry, but that is the reality.

It would have shocked Lee as well, he kept being picked in India when his head wasn't right, as it clearly wasn't in Perth, but he never looked like missing out.

But all of that aside, why bad Hayden, Hussey and Lee, and let POnting off the hook.

His captaincy is sub par.

He cannot manufacture wickets, and his field placements are getting worse.

His body language when Australia are struggling is like a 8 year old who hasn't been bought their favourite power ranger.

And no one employed by CA wants to talk about it.

WHY THE FUCK NOT?

Just because the man is the best batsman in the team, and the one who tried to carry them to victory at the G with the bat, does not mean he can captain.

They are two different skills.

So Hilditch, thank you for your partial honesty, but if you aren't going to own up to your mistakes, or the mistakes of the captain, you might as well keep your fucking mouth shut and keeping telling the press that Brad Hodge is finished.
