Clarke is hanging tough

I would like to congratulate Michael Clarke on his break through innings.

Sure he didn’t make a hundred, or slow down the Indian juggernaut.

And it’s not even his first 50 in an Australian loss to India.

But there was almost an extra testicle in this one, because he was the one batsman who stuck in there.

And of all the players he was the least likely to do so.

Katich, Ponting, and Hussey are built for this sort of stuff.

Clarke is not, I am still not sure what he is actually built for.

Perhaps a dancer in an Avril Lavigne clip.

In the last two tests Australia has gone down in, he has been on the deck as the ship sank, checking his hair and wondering where everyone was. .

Is there a proper test batsmen in there?

Could it have been hiding behind all those easy hundreds he has scored?

Will the boy band charms fade and some sort of tough test cricketer come out?

Can Lara really one day be a respected member of society?

This could be the innings that we look back at and say, remember when Australia were crapping themselves al over Mohali and he just came out and batted.

I doubt it, but still, where there is pup there is hope.
