first test first session, kiwis windies

I know what you are all thinking, Tim McIntosh is going to be the new Bradman.

Or maybe I am searching for comparisons because Daniel Flynn is doing the best Justin Langer imitation of all time.

He quick stepped through Langer phase one, and is now at stage two, first drop.

Today he has been punchy, pugnacious, a little ugly, ready for boundaries, lucky, left handed and short.

Like Langer, Flynn is batting as the nuggety number 3, so the flamboyant boys down the order can cash in.

He took the fight to the West Indians, who have gone in with Nash and Gayle as spinners, and they looked a it shocked.

So they fucken should be, who has ever seen Flynn play this many shots.

And he looks like he will finally beat the 40odd hoodoo he has given himself*.

McIntosh looked more like a tail ender to start with, then he worked his way into Redmond type batting, and I thought to myself, why bring in a Redmond for Redmond.

The West Indian bowlers bowled pretty well without luck.

Except for Edwards.

Gayle also used Baker as a stock outside off trundler.

Perhaps in homage to Dhoni.

It didn’t work, and Sulimenn Benn must have been confused by it all.

New Zealand win the first session, Windies need 3 wickets this session.

*little bugger got there just as i was about to press publish.
