previously at the waca

Australia

Got caught with their dicks in their hands early, but 350 is enough in the first innings at the Wace these days. Still have to bowl well ofcourse, but this is their highest first innings score at the Waca for some time.

They needed two pretty good comebacks to get there, but one thing they know, South Africa is still going to go defensive way too early and give them back the momentum.

South Africa

In what world should Dale Steyn be bowling with only 2 slips before lunch when they had the team 3/15.

Did Graeme Smith learn nothing from Warne at all? Bullshit defensive captaincy all fucken day. Why did Kallis bowl 15 overs, the whole idea of having 5 bowlers is that if one is bowling tripe, and giving the opposition momentum, he should bowl.

The bowlers did a pretty good job, and with better captaincy Australia should not have got over 250.

Who is in front

It’s pretty even, but being that South Africa had Australia 3/15, and Australia put a score of over 350 on the board, you’d rather be them.

The thing about scoring more than 300 in the first innings is, the other side have to do the same to feel in the game.

If Australia get a few wickets early on, Mittens will be really missed.

Play of the day

Jacques Kallis face when Haddin played him like a spinner, and popped him into the crowd.

Kallis has decided he is a bowler again now, probably to ensure he is not dropped for his batting, but Haddin just smacked him like he was mark Ealham or Souyrav Ganguly.

And Kallis applied trademark squinting grimace.

Testicular moment of the day

Has to go to Katich, while the three top money men were gone, and Clarke was trying to get caught or run him out, Katich just took control.

Sure Smith let him, through Kallis and bad fields, but by the time Katich was out, Australia was more than in the match.

Working class moment

Paul Harris gets this one.

I don’t think he can bowl, and I have seen him bowl enough times to make this judgement, but you have to give him some cred for today.

He came on at a good time for a spinner, with Australia unable to completely go after him, but he tried hard all day, and maybe his wickets were more to do with brain fades than good bowling, but he probably worked the hardest of any South African today.
