the first day actually delivers

Now this is a test match.

Early wickets to get the heart pumping.

Wickets in every session to keep everyone honest.

Rear guard actions with the bat.

Quick fire cameo by Roy.

Tail end resistance, and also a mini war between Krejza and Johnson.

Fast bowling, even if it wasn’t brutal, they were quick enough.

A tonne of runs.

A flamingo of wickets.

And Jacques Kallis haiving a strop.

350 runs and 9 wickets is pretty much my perfect day of cricket.

This series may be devoid of personality, but with Clarke, Haddin and Roy making runs, and Steyn and Morkel bowling to them it is devoid of exciting cricket.

It probably needs a leg spinner.

But doesn’t every occasion.

Day two probably can’t be as good.

This is the way to start a series my friends.
