Matthew Nicholson, the talentless Satchel Paige

Matthew Nicholson, 72, has been axed by Surrey.

The NSWales selector, who once played for Australia, and was there when the Wright Brothers flew their first flight, has made way for Shoiab Ahktar.

Nicholson was heard to say, “80p for a can of coke, in my day it was a thruppence and you got a line of cocaine with it.”

This looks like the end of a long long long long career by the tall man.

Things that were invented while Matthew Nicholson played cricket.

The wheel.

The Ipod.

Sporks.

Nicholson spent a lot of his career hiding his age.

Not in a vain attempt to hold onto a career, but because when people heard his real age, they gasped so hard their jaws were locked open like those freaky clowns in amusement parks.

His only test at the G resulted in him being booed for 4:32:08 straight which was a record at the time for a continiuous crowd boo.

This was then beaten at the premiere of Gigli.

He will be missed.www.cricketwithballs.com... fighting the war on tony greig
