Patrick Kidd thinks c and b Paul Harris is a sad way to go. There are, though, many sadder ways, and we've seen at least some of them from Ian Bell, for example being run out at the non striker's end failing to ground your bat for the crucial nanosecond when the bails are disturbed.
But I think Ian Bell might be a superstitious man with one eye on history (not Neil McKenzie superstious, don't be ridiculous), and that it's all part of a grand plan.
When was the last time the England batting card showed individual innings of 150 and 200?
Yes that's right.
So little Ian Bell generously, sweetly, gave away his wicket so as to confound Fate, so that there's one fewer Sign connecting that test with this test. Just for that, I will refrain from insistently calling him ginger-in-denial, at least until his next innings.
Collingwood, though, is still on the hook. www.cricketwithballs.com
