The transformation of Glamorganâ™s Sophia Gardens ground from County HQ to Test Match Arena is nearly complete, within budget and on time. The ground has been renamed the SWALEC stadium due to a £1.5m naming rights deal.
Over the last year Iâ™ve tried to document the progress of the development, and previous updates are here: One, Two, Three.
Here's some pics from my latest visit on March 29th:
#1 The 'Really Welsh' Pavilion
(Really Welsh is a produce company providing a six figure sponsorship deal)
complete with Business Club boxes and Members' Area
#2 Cathedral Road Stand
with Lord's style Media Centre behind the bowler's arm
#3 River Taff End
largely unchanged, and not renamed, which pleases this blogger!
