first day, first session

12 minutes into the first day at Barbados no balls were delivered.

There was a Venetian blind error.

I have never liked Venetian blinds, and I think that has been vindicated by this incident.

Then Phabulous Phil Jacques did something I was beginning to wonder if he could do.

He took charge of a test match.

Gayle decided to use the overcast and sticky conditions to put Australia in.

Jacques decided to bat like he dose in first class cricket, like he owns the joint.

Like all good things, it wasn’t built to last, and eventually he pulled a ball straight up in the air and made Ramdin do some chasing.

Edwards was warned for running on the wicket, any team that is playing against a leg spinner who will bowl on the 4th day should be allowed to run on the wicket.

That’ll learn em.

Edwards seemed to lose all venom after his warning.

But the pitch, she is a beauty.

Quick, great carry, and a little bit of sumtin sumtin we had all assumed test pitches were not allowed to have.

This allowed the Australians to hit 4 sixes.

And the West Indians to take 4 wickets.

Taylor bowled pretty good all morning, and after getting Jacques out he bowled a straight one to Ponting who played around every part of it.

Then the King Probot Michael Hussey played a few cracking shots, and then got caught hooking by Powell inches from the rope off Bravo.

Then Michael Clarke did what Michael Clarke does, fails when he comes in and the score is under 150.

This time to a nice nut from bravo outside off.

Simon Katich however seemed quite perplexed by all this attacking cricket and just played as the Krab plays.

Even so Australia scored at 4 and a half per over for pretty much the whole session.

The Windies are up and flying and we may have a test here.www.cricketwithballs.com

Now with new proper english lady blogger.
