Now that was a start to a test series.
Anything that makes the bookies juggle their figures is always good.
3/15
It would be great to say it was because the pace was back.
But really South Africa just got their length spot on.
Ntini was getting spanked, being a youngster he didnâ™t realise hayden likes the full ball at the start, and gave him a few boundaries.
Then he came round the wicket and got Hayden with a short of the length riser.
Next ball he bowled full to Ponting, who half went at it, and he was out too.
Ntini didnâ™t get his hat trick.
But Steyn picked up Hussey soon after, and it was all happening.
Then Simon Katich, the krab, just took the fuck over.
He was helped by a bowling change, Kallis came on, and all the pressure evaporated immediately.
Credit where credit is due though, Katich was pretty fucking tasty.
South Africa were trying to bowl as full as possible.
And the Krab was slapping them through cover every time they gave him a chance.
He is now officially Australiaâ™s best batsman.
There can be no doubt.
Kallis, was horrible, he through up even more half volleys than normal.
Clarke, close to ending the CWB theory that he canâ™t score when the wickets fall early, looked pretty comfortable, after trying to run the krab out first nut.
He scooped a couple in the air, but was solid, and looks like he really wants to score a big one.
Graeme Smith wanted to show he had a sense of humour, so he brought Harris on, and put out a long on for the krab. I am not sure which one is funnier.
Morkel, Steyn and Ntini all bowled pretty damn well, but would be disappointed with only 3 wickets.
No real swing, a touch of seam, and even some spin for Harris.
Great session for South Africa, but pretty good comeback by Australia as well.
If South Africa don't break this partnership by tea, that 3/15 will feel like a different test match.
Partnerships can get pretty damn large, pretty damn fast if left unattended.
