Current Matches : Bangladesh in Zimbabwe (2011)

Author: sam_ahmedSubject: Bangladesh in Zimbabwe (2011)Posted: 26 July 2011 at 7:22pmWith IND-ENG, SLN -AUS, there won't be many who would care about this but then this series will perhaps be a more competative one than the other two that are taking place.Zimbabwe return to test cricket under a "white" captain in Brendon Taylor and while Bangladesh start off as firm favorites, I expect Zimbabwe to challenge then big time, I think in home conditions ZIM can match Bangladesh but then Bangla boys are more talented and have had good results against Zimbabwe in the past.Sat Jul 30 - Mon Aug 107:30 GMT | 09:30 local13:00 IST Zimbabwe XI v BangladeshisHarare Sports Club Thu Aug 4 - Mon Aug 807:30 GMT | 09:30 local13:00 IST Only Test - Zimbabwe v BangladeshHarare Sports Club Fri Aug 1207:00 GMT | 09:00 local12:30 IST 1st ODI - Zimbabwe v BangladeshHarare Sports Club Sun Aug 1407:00 GMT | 09:00 local12:30 IST 2nd ODI - Zimbabwe v BangladeshHarare Sports Club Tue Aug 1607:00 GMT | 09:00 local12:30 IST 3rd ODI - Zimbabwe v BangladeshHarare Sports Club Fri Aug 1907:00 GMT | 09:00 local12:30 IST 4th ODI - Zimbabwe v BangladeshQueens Sports Club, Bulawayo Sun Aug 2107:00 GMT | 09:00 local12:30 IST 5th ODI - Zimbabwe v BangladeshQueens Sports Club, Bulawayo Edited by sam_ahmed - Today at 7:23pm

Current Matches : Australia in Sri Lanka

Author: MikeySubject: Australia in Sri LankaPosted: 26 July 2011 at 9:43amAustralia will be touring Sri Lanka shortly for the first time since 2004. The tour will include 2 T20I's, 5 ODIs and 3 tests. The following squad was selected for Australia: Shane Watson, Phillip Hughes, Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke (capt), Michael Hussey, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Brad Haddin (wk), Mitchell Johnson, Ryan Harris, Peter Siddle, Trent Copeland, James Pattinson, Nathan Lyon, Michael BeerThe notable exclusion is Steven Smith. The selectors have finally realised that picking a player as a specialist fielder will not work - his bowling nor his batting are adequate for test selection. His next test will probably be as a specialist batsman at some stage in the future if he is ever to play tests for Australia. Copeland and Pattinson are the rookie fast bowlers that have been selected, Copeland has been particularly good in first class cricket, with Australia having a lot of fast bowling options to pick from, he was the one that was given the nod. Pattinson is a young bolter and there are some big expectations on him too. His brother played for England a couple of years ago, but James is born in Australia and has played all his cricket here. Nathan Lyon, the South Australia off break bowler has been strangely selected, just as Michael Beer and this series will probably ruin both of them... no surprises there. Hauritz is still injured and Krejza is still rubbish.Harris is back and Bollinger has not been picked! But it looks a good decision, Dougie really struggles to maintain his intensity, while Harris is probably one of the fastest bowlers in the world at the moment. Tim Paine has not been picked at all, but we do see Marsh and Khawaja included, one of the will play. While Hughes will open, he has been in fantastic form and hopefully he can translate his talent into runs. I won't write the kid off just yet! Warner is also backing off from a double ton in a first class game vs Zim A and is proving his credentials in the longer form - Hughes will have competition that's for sure. All in all, both teams are struggling for form in the longer format. SL will have home advantage and even though they do have better spin talent, none of the options really match Murali. Should be a decent series.

General Cricket Talk : Cricket Jokes

Author: vote4peaceSubject: Cricket JokesPosted: 25 July 2011 at 10:46amLeading from the front???The standard of batting in the local side was very low. Even at the net practice, they couldn't hit a thing. Finally, the captain rushed forward and grabbed the bat."Now bowl me some fast ones," he yelled. Six fast balls came down in quick succession and the captain missed them all. Not to be put off, he glared at the team and shouted,"That's what you're all doing. Now get in there and hit them!"

Off-Topic Forum : Final Fantasy X-2 , Killer 7 , Batman....

Author: jamesabytrSubject: Final Fantasy X-2 , Killer 7 , Batman....Posted: 21 July 2011 at 5:24pmSo a typical day of me doing gaming research caused me to run into something I had not realized. For my most recent FFX-2 video, I mentioned I really don't like the voice acting though this has in fairness, been true for most of the FF series. It is not really because the actors themselves and usually bad (In fact, most times they play there parts perfectly) It is because the characters they portray are just badly written. Now because of some serious problems with my editor, I watched several of the same video clips over and over again which got me to thinking, I know one of these voices, (You own as many video games as me and some voices you pick up on no matter how different it sounds) in this case, I realized I recognized Rikku's voice from another game so I called up her credits.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tara_StrongGopHoly Mother of god! Just how many voices has she done....at the same time!?!?!? based on this she would be recording for multiple games, movies, and TV shows all in the same year!In case you don't look right away, her name is Tara Strong and she is one of (if not the) most active voice over actresses in both the gaming and TV world. For This Year Alone! She is recording for the following games.Cartoon Network; Punch Time Explosion- Bubbles, Buttercup, Chowder and DexterShadows of the Damned- JustineBatman Arkham City- Harley QuinnThose however are only this years new projects. In TV and Movie, she is currently working on I believe 9 different projects. If you have watched any cartoons, played any video games or watched any Hayao Miyazaki films in the last 20 years, chances are you have heard her voice. So a quick tribute to a very talented lady.......will not stop me from hating Rikku's character though

General Cricket Talk : ICC contemplates timeless tests..

Author: SledgerSubject: ICC contemplates timeless tests..Posted: 19 July 2011 at 7:08amI don't see the necessity - most tests provide a positive result within 5 days and I see better ways of managing this without timeless matches.              1)  Prepare wickets that deteriorate after about 3 days.              2)   Increase the overs per day to 100 or 18 overs per hour  (that'll shake the players up!)                  3)  Make the game's duration 30 hours long , even if that goes beyond 5 days - this for rain effected matches.             I can't see any match not being resolved under those circumstances and if it's still undecided after these stipulations , then have some sort of bowl off.     I don't want to see 10 days matches - I have work to go to!Edited by Sledger - Today at 7:08am

Groundcare : Is a county groundsmans' lot a happy one?

Author: GroundieSubject: Is a county groundsmans' lot a happy one?Posted: 14 July 2011 at 7:09amThere has been a lot of horror stories lately surrounding groundsmen coming under enormous pressure from captains/coaches/ceo's to produce certain surfaces and also cases where the groundsman has been overruled, pitches too green, pitches too used. Pitch marks are dropping yet clubs feel justified because they are getting results.

Groundcare : Outfield care

Author: theroddersSubject: Outfield carePosted: 05 July 2011 at 4:32pmI play club cricket on a ground which shares its outfield with a football club. It used to be the case that the football pitch would only encroach one side of the outfield but as the years went by it is now the case that all sides of the outfield have football played on it during the off season. With so much sport being played and the field not getting any rest it's needless to say it's in a pretty sorry state, there are areas where there isn't much grass growth and other areas where there are lots of weeds growing, the worst part is the huge cracks in the ground (some large enough to fit a cricket ball!) and the soil being incredibly bumpy.Does anybody have any advice on what can be done during the short window in April (approximately 4 weeks) to improve the state of the outfield? I have been told by a livery owner to chain harrow and then roll the outfield, will this be beneficially to my cause? (please note we only own a heavy roller) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Off-Topic Forum : Your favorite Novel

Author: kirankriSubject: Your favorite NovelPosted: 04 July 2011 at 9:43amMine is "From Volga to Ganga" by Rahul Sankrityayan. Must read if you are a fan of history. Talks about Aryans, civilization by 6000 BC. Fantastic book and one of those books which I read more than once.

Current Matches : India in England

Author: kirankriSubject: India in EnglandPosted: 04 July 2011 at 9:29amThe Indian test squad has been announced.Gautam Gambhir (vice-capt), Virender Sehwag, Abhinav Mukund, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (capt/wk), Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Harbhajan Singh, Amit Mishra, Zaheer Khan, Sreesanth, Munaf Patel, Ishant Sharma, Praveen Kumar Should be a fascinating series. Will surely be the last England tour for Dravid, Sachin and VVS. Dravid and VVS getting some runs in the ongoing WI tour is a good sign for the Indians. Raina or Yuvraj whoever plays at no.6 will struggle I feel (unless they come in to bat with score looking like 300/4). Swann v/s top 5 Indian batsman should be another interesting contest. Harbhajan may not do that well considering the fact, English batsmen gets to play a world class spinner Swann in the nets. Praveen kumar could be interesting. Though I don't rate him, he could be more than handful in English conditions. Actually going with 5 bowlers could be a better option for Indians considering that, both Raina and Yuvraj are not great test batsman. With possibly 4 right handers (Trott, Bell, Peiterson & Prior), Misra could be an interesting pick. Also Misra, Harbhajan, Praveen Kumar, Zaheer and Sharma can all contribute 15-20 runs with the bat.

Our previous imports have paid for their own flights, but employment and accomodation is provided. General Cricket Talk : bits and pieces bowler query

Author: ClobberSubject: bits and pieces bowler queryPosted: 03 July 2011 at 12:35pmI would guess that if guys aren't bowling regularly they wouldn't have the necessary conditioning in that part of their body to fire it down too quickly. I think Desmond Haynes was about the quickest non-bowler I have seen bowling but that was a while ago and in reality it was probably only military medium.
