Author: ClobberSubject: Your 'Specialist' subject.Posted: 22 June 2011 at 4:05pmI saw someone did Iron Maiden on Mastermind a couple of years ago, and I got more right that she did, so I reckon I would be on solid ground on that topic.

General Cricket Talk : Windies cricket woes

Author: SledgerSubject: Windies cricket woesPosted: 13 June 2011 at 6:38amCertainly the squabbling in the background amongst both the management and the players is not helping Windies cricket at all.  The whole setup strikes me as amatuerish in the extreme and whilst that might have been okay in the 60's and even through to the 80's , it leaves them with a huge disadvantage in the game today.  Remember , the great sides on the 70's and 80's still had to deal with officialdom which , at best was flakey , at worst shambolic.  That they came through was because the players had pride and not a little skill !   The current players seem driven only by money - simply put , they're unprofessional - they have some fine players , but their attitude leaves a lot to be desired.

General Cricket Talk : First memories of cricket following

Author: MikeySubject: First memories of cricket followingPosted: 10 June 2011 at 10:26amI started watching cricket seriously in 2000 when I was about 10 years old. But I do have memories going back to around 1996 or 1997, back when Taylor, the Waugh twins and Warne were at their best. I got to see the best part of McGrath and Warne, which was a privilege. Was a big fan of SAF and Pakistan too, for some reason I always liked watching those teams play. Donald and Klusener were pretty awesome back then, so were Saqi and Shoaib! In saying that though, I have read books about cricket all through the 90s and have seen a lot of footage which I have been able to access.

General Cricket Talk : Cricket films

Author: Max PowerSubject: Cricket filmsPosted: 08 June 2011 at 4:01pmIt seems like there has been a bit of a flurry of films coming out recently all based around cricket, I wonder if there is a reason for this? Recent releases include:Out of the Ashes (about the Afghanistan cricket team)Fire in BabylonFrom the Ashes (about Botham's 1981 Ashes victory)Personally I have seen Out of the Ashes, we saw an advanced preview and I have to say it was very good! A must watch for any cricket fan and I think a great film for non-cricket fans too (if you can get them to watch it).Have you seen any of the above films (or any others for that matter)? Planning on going to see Fire in Babylon soon...

Forum Feedback : Why isn't this forum more popular?

Author: Max PowerSubject: Why isn't this forum more popular?Posted: 08 June 2011 at 3:01pmI think in the past some of the more 'active' members have been removed from the forum for simply disagreeing with the moderators point of view, which will certainly lower the level of participation.Moderation is obviously a good thing. Over-moderation is simply going to turn people away.

General Cricket Talk : Australia's New Contract List

Author: MikeySubject: Australia's New Contract ListPosted: 07 June 2011 at 7:27amThey stuck my Hauritz for a long time, they should have continued with him. I'd also like to see Johnson go and Harris lead the attack. Bollinger is also one of the best limited overs bowlers around and he can do the job in the test format. Need to play a side like this in tests:1. Watson2. Hughes3. Ponting4. Clarke*5. Khawaja6. Hussey, M7. Paine†8. Harris9. Hauritz10. Bollinger11. Hilfenhaus/SiddleI still have faith in Hilfenhaus, he has the ability , pace and swing. If not him, then Siddle.I still can't believe O'Keefe can't get recognised by the selectors, he's light years ahead of Doherty as a spinner and a top 6 batsman. He's definitely got more about him than Smith. If they want a spinning all-rounder, which could be useful, particularly with North gone and no great spinner in the side, then play O'Keefe at 6. He's got the talent, and stick with him.
