Haddin has retired from the format and the incumbent Tim Paine is out injured, nonetheless Wade is the better option. Paine is a test specialist in my opinion and I'd like to see him in the test side as soon as possible, even ahead of Haddin.Mitchell Marsh, brother of Shaun, is in the squad ahead of Hastings who is also injured. He's a 19 year old all rounder who Mickey Arthur compares to Jacques Kallis. He's a genuine all rounder and from the looks of things his game is a lot better than Moises Henriques, whose career never really took off.The other bolter is Patrick Cummins, the 18 year old NSW fast bowler who scored a CA contract out of no where. I've seen the kid bowl and he already hits 150kph, believe it or not. He has been doing a lot of weight and strength training and presumably he's still growing so on that basis it wouldn't surprise me if he continued to his 150kph on a regular basis. His action looks a little bit like Anderson's, but there's a little bit of Mohammed Zahid about the way he bowls. The way the ball rises and the sheer pace is very Zahid-esque. That is, if anybody has seen Zahid bowl before. I haven't seen anyone this genuinely quick emerge from Australia at SUCH a young age since Lee or maybe Tait, although Cummins' action is more orthodox and not round arm/slingy.

I was playing around with the idea (suggested by my old mate JB) of how various historical figures would have fared as cricketers. And this is what I came up with.

[b]Galileo Galilei

Batsman - [/b]A failure - always batted at no. 11. Spent too much time observing what the bowler was trying to do, and too little time actually reacting. Should have listened more to the ultimately sage advice of the former opening batsman Kepler.

[b]Bowler -[/b] This was his real strength. You hear talk about bowlers 'gaining pace' off the pitch - GG was a master at this. He had truly mastered the ability to uniformly accelerate the ball.

[b]Fielder[/b] - Particularly strong under the high ball - an expert at judging the parabola of hits into the outfield.

[b]Overall -[/b] Great potential that was ultimately undone by off-field politics. He should never have written his autobiography "Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems" in which he openly criticized the excessive power base wielded by the BCCI and argued that the world of cricket did not rotate simply around India. It ultimately resulted in the loss of his T20 contract and his career finished in anonymity.

[b]Stephen Hawking[/b]

[b]Batting -[/b] Formed a solid opening partnership with Penrose. Good technique with a penchant for taking quick singularities. Did have some trouble in running threes until he improved his turning circle. Most remembered now for popularising the block hole paradox shot, which revolutionised how to play yorkers in T20 cricket.

[b]Bowling - [/b] Nil. Reminiscent of the late 1950s with Gordon Rorke, Hawking's truly unique bowling style was quickly outlawed, as his very long delivery slide meant that umpires could not accurately determine the legality of the ball and he often was able to release the ball nearly half way down the pitch.

[b]Fielding -[/b] Great short leg fielder with an ability to get a considerable amount of mass behind the ball. Noted sledger from close in, but some pedants have raised concerns that many of his memorable lines were scripted.

[b]Overall -[/b] Often remembered in the same category as Mike Brearly: a magnificent cricketing brain that perhaps over-shadowed his physical abilities. Once again though - great sledger. Best line is probably the classic and oft repeated "When I hear of Schrodinger's bat, I reach for my pistol."

[b]Michael Jackson[/b]

[b]Batting -[/b] A modern figure that harked back to the grand days of George Bonner, Jackson was a child prodigy that was picked primarily for his aggressive stroking of the tail end, particularly in under-age teams. He had many big hits around the world, and still holds a number of records. His nickname of Whacko Jacko quickly emerged after his stunning debut performance in the IPL when he combined with Indian superstar, Off the Wall Rahul Dravid. He was famous for walking, even before Gilly made it commonplace.

[b]Bowling -[/b] Jackson was only an occasional bowler, but gained a second, but less flattering nickname, as the King of Long Hops. He did establish a long standing sponsorship with Pepsi but was ultimately burnt by the deal.

[b]Fielding -[/b] Jackson's reputation was largely ruined on the basis of a number of eventually unsubstantiated claims of balls tampering. Many influential people believed he was a fiddler when no-one was watching, but this could not be proven.

[b]Post Cricket -[/b] After retiring, Jackson went on to a surprisingly successful career as an umpire. Similar to Australian Darrell Hair, he was a firm decision maker as he saw everything as black and white. He stood in many different tests that ended in thrillers, but also found himself in a number of bad and dangerous situations, however his attitude that he was invincible ultimately saw him through. Jackson sadly passed away recent just before a long awaited comeback as a match referee.

When NASA realised that President Kennedyâ™s 1961 call, for a man on the moon and back alive before the end of the decade, was totally impossible, they decided, rather than lose face, to hoax the whole thing. With $40 billion â" at 1961 rates â" available, the scope for deception was endless. The major problem was the impossibility of overcoming the cosmic radiation threat within and beyond the Earthâ™s Van Allen Belts and on the moonâ™s surface. At least 5 feet of lead would be needed in all directions to protect the voyagers : for one man, in a telephone kiosk, this would involve a thousand tons of lead. 35-plus years later, the unprotected Apollo travellers, all of whom would have been fried, have shown no signs of radiation sickness. Another problem was the inability of NASA to produce a stable craft which was intended to be the lunar landing module. âœLunar astronautâ, Neil Amstrong, almost lost his life when one of the prototype flying-bedstead LMs crashed and disintegrated. The problems were never even close to being solved. The highly secret Area 51, in the Nevada Desert, is believed to be the location for the film studios â" still visible from satellite photographs â" which produced the television programmes â" âœlive from the Moonâ, whilst the astronauts merely sat out their time 200 miles above the Earthâ™s surface. The official NASA record of the six Apollo excursions is so full of basic mistakes that various observers believe that some NASA personnel, very unhappy at being forced to be part of the hoax, deliberately left what would become obvious flaws in the record. The American flag flapping in the atmosphere-free, windless conditions ; the school-boy-level fake âœmoon photographsâ and their difference from the live (film studio) transmissions ; the miracle of the standard Kodak film which withstood the X-rays and the extremes of heat and cold - 250 to minus-250 degrees ; the chest-mounted cameras which, without a viewfinder, produced hundreds of clear, well-framed photographs ; the multiple light sources ; the clear, uninterrupted voices of the astronauts as they sat above 10,000 lb-thrust, 140-decibel rockets ; the lack of any crater beneath the LMs; the lack of any exhaust smoke from the LM rockets (as it was pulled upwards, Thunderbird-style, by puppet strings in the studio) ; the lack of any stars in the lunar sky ; â¦ and so on. The impression that the men and vehicles were moving in a less dense gravity was created by simply slowing down the film to half-speed. One of the âœwhistle-blowersâ, Bill Kaysing, former analyst and engineer with Rocketdyne, the Apollo rocket designers estimated that âœ.. there were 85 completely separate manoeuvres involved in a lunar landing. Statisticians have calculated that the chances of completing this set of manoeuvres six times, without a single failure, were totally beyond the realms of possibilityâ. Kaysing also reckoned that the chances of a successful, manned return trip to the moon were .0017%. Other informants have not been so lucky. The outstanding critic of Americaâ™s chances of lunar success, Gus Grissom was one of ten astronauts who had âœfreak fatal accidentsâ between 1964 & 67. Apollo 1 safety inspector, Thomas Baron, produced a 500-page report. He stated that âœThe Apollo 1 programme was in such disarray that America would never make it to the moon.â One week later Baron and his family were killed in a road crash : the report disappeared. Although the Americans recruited over 120 Nazi space scientists for their use, the Apollo scam is well beyond anything in the Joseph Goebbels Manual of Public Relations. Channels 4 and 5 TV have broadcast programmes exposing the fraud, but the Establishment media, led by -who else?- the BBC, have taken every opportunity to reinforce the hoax, with very good reason. If it were generally accepted that The Scientists have told us a pack of lies on âœManâ™s Greatest Achievementâ - and they have - even the most trusting of punter is likely to ask on what else would they deceive us : answer - everything.

Author: pomstheoneSubject: cricket cv's???Posted: 15 August 2011 at 8:11pmhi guys just want to start a thread about what sorts of standard of cricket everyone on here plays and how you all managed to get to play thats standard etc. i personally play club cricket as a semi pro for a premier league club and i also play county second eleven cricket. i have been lucky enough to play alot of county cricket and feel that having a strong cricket cv is a massive advantage! i basically drafted up a cv and registered with a company called www.cricketcv.webs.comonce my cv was registered they distribute it to every single county and minor county and then i waited for the replies. i had trials literally within 2 weeks and it all started from there. just wondering whether anyone else has had experience with this company or cv's?? please discuss
